A message from Superintendent Larry Washington

A message from Superintendent Larry Washington

Dear Washingtonville Community Members:

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the tragic loss of Andy Sanchez, a Washingtonville school bus driver of nine years.

A valued employee, beloved by his colleagues and the Little Britain Elementary School students in his care, Mr. Sanchez was injured in a school bus accident on Oct. 21 and had been hospitalized.

We know you’ll join us in expressing sympathy and condolences to Mr. Sanchez’s family at this time.

Our faculty and staff have been informed, and our school counselors are available to anyone—staff, students, families—to offer their assistance and support.

To the parents/guardians of students who had more direct contact with Mr. Sanchez, please be mindful that children express grief in different ways. Encourage your child(ren) to express their feelings, and contact your child’s school counselor if you have any concerns.

Since joining WCSD, Mr. Sanchez has been an integral and invaluable part of our school district, and he will be greatly missed.

Sincerely,

Larry Washington
Superintendent of Schools
