• No protection in an accident:
  • School buses are designed to protect passengers primarily through the seat structure, which absorbs impact force when seated; standing passengers have no such protection. It is important to keep arms and legs inside your seat as well.
• Sudden movements can cause falls:
  • Even minor braking or turns can cause a standing passenger to lose balance and fall, potentially hitting other passengers or getting injured. 
• Distraction to the driver:
  • Students standing and moving around can distract the bus driver, potentially compromising safety.
