Community Message: Sept. 12, 2022

Dear Washingtonville families,

They say time flies when you’re having fun, and the first week of the 2022-2023 school year feels like it went by in the blink of an eye!

As students arrived on Tuesday morning, teachers and principals greeted them cheerfully, even in the rain, as they got off the buses and out of cars. They walked them inside and to their classes. The smiles on the faces of everyone from kindergarteners to seniors said it all – those connections mattered. Everyone in our district is committed to creating a safe and secure learning environment for students, and making them feel welcome and supported from day one is key.

I’m proud of the outstanding work of every teacher, administrator and staff member this summer, preparing for the return of our students. Their prep work allowed us to hit the ground running with plenty of learning fun amid all the excitement of reconnecting with friends. I’m already seeing great engagement in classrooms, and everyone has come back to school reenergized. Our first week was a huge success and a year of unlimited potential is ahead of us.

Thank you for your continued support of our district. See you at homecoming!

Sincerely,

Dr. Larry Washington
Superintendent of Schools
