District launches dedicated page for weekly COVID-19 case reporting

As the reporting of COVID-19 cases becomes a regular subject of school communications, the district is piloting a weekly approach to updating the school community of new cases, as the information is made available by the Orange County Department of Health (OCDOH), or other channels.

Exceptions to this weekly communications plan will be made as needed, namely, when reported cases and contact tracing necessitate shifts in instruction models at specific schools, or district wide. In that event, communication alerts will be issued accordingly to the affected building population, or the entire school community. District-wide shifts in instruction will always be posted to the district’s newsfeed on the homepage of our website

Starting Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, community members can consult the COVID-19 Case Reporting page to learn about the total number of newly reported cases for each work week, at the end of the business day on Friday. The page can be found by clicking on the "COVID-19 Case Reporting" button below the photo-slider of our homepage. A reminder to check for case updates will be sent to subscribers of the district's notification system on Fridays, at 5 p.m.

In addition, and as mandated by the state, the district will continue to submit its case numbers to the NYS COVID-19 Report Card Dashboard. Learn more about NYS COVID-19 Dashboard for Parents

WCSD leaders remain committed to following official health and safety guidance, as outlined in our reopening plan, and we are mindful of our school community’s partnership in ensuring continuity of learning for all students, even as conditions continue to evolve.
