Throughout April, elementary schools in the Washingtonville Central School District celebrated Month of the Military Child with Purple Up Day. This initiative acknowledges the resilience of children whose parents are serving in the armed forces.
“With so many of our students connected to the military, Purple Up is our way of showing love, pride, and unity,” said Little Britain Principal Dr. Christopher Barrie. “It’s a celebration of the resilience, bravery, and heart that walks through our doors every day.”
At Little Britain, the school's PTO put together a presentation showcasing the military branches students are a part of and fun facts about their experiences. Click here to view the presentation!
At Taft and Round Hill, the school supported their military students by wearing purple to honor the sacrifices they and their families have made to keep us safe.
