Nov. 19 middle school COVID-19 update from Dr. Larry Washington

Dear Middle School Parents/Guardians:

Tonight, Nov. 19, we were alerted that a middle school teacher tested positive for COVID-19.

While this information has not yet been confirmed to us by the Orange County Department of Health (DOH), district administrators are in the process of calling anyone who was in close or proximate contact with the positive teacher and who might be required to quarantine for 14 days.

However, due to the number of faculty and staff that will be required to quarantine, we will need to shift back to a full remote instructional model for all middle school students beginning tomorrow, Nov. 20 through Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Please know that students were not in contact with the positive case due to the fully remote schedule that began Nov. 10.

Families needing meals should be sure to place their meal orders each day by 11 p.m. for pick up at the side entrance of the Middle School from 10:30 a.m. to  12:30 p.m.

Please know that when in our building, all students and staff are required to comply with CDC guidelines, including mask and social distancing mandates.

The safety and well-being of our students, staff and community is always our first and top priority. Please call the Middle School Health Office at 497-4000, extension 21531, if you have any further questions.

Thank you for your continued support, patience and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Dr. Larry Washington, Superintendent of Schools

Ms. Teresa Thompson, Principal
