On Saturday, November 9th, senior volleyball player Sophia Siruchek was awarded the Mid Hudson Board of Volleyball Officials' (MHBVO) "Inspiration in Volleyball Scholarship," which is awarded to one graduating senior from the leagues officiated by members of the MHBVO.
In the realm of volleyball, Sophia stands out not just for her impressive skills on the court, but also for her unwavering commitment to her team. She consistently leads by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic that inspires her teammates to push their limits. Sophia is the first athlete to arrive at practice each day, and the last one to leave. She approaches each challenge with determination and resilience, and encourages others to do the same.
Beyond her athletic prowess on the volleyball court, Sophia is a genuinely kind and responsible individual. She shows a remarkable ability to connect with others, always offering support and encouragement to friends and teammates. This is demonstrated by her involvement in our school’s Special Olympics program, and her work towards earning her Gold Award with the Girl Scouts of America, the highest award in Girl Scouting.
Academically, Sophia is equally dedicated, with a strong interest in pursuing exercise science and playing volleyball at the collegiate level. Her passion for understanding the human body and its mechanics is evident in her studies and in the way she applies that knowledge to enhance her performance in volleyball. I do not doubt that Sophia will excel in her studies and contribute significantly to her future college community.
Congratulations Sophia on your scholarship and success!
