WCSD announces universal pre-kindergarten registration information

Dear Washingtonville Community,

The Washingtonville Central School District is excited to announce registration for our Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program for the 2022-2023 school year. As we plan for September 2022 we will continue to run two half-day programs at Round Hill for a total of 72 students (36 in the morning program and 36 in the afternoon program).  In addition, the district will collaborate with English Rose and Little Harvard, two community-based organizations, for an additional 58 slots at these organizations.

Children who will be four (4) years old by December 1, 2022, are eligible for our UPK program. Registration will take place through Thursday, June 2. Visit the registration page on the district website to access the registration packet. All required documentation should be sent via email to or fax to 845-497-4032.

If you are unable to send the documentation electronically, please contact Vanessa Sanchez at 845-497-4046 for further information. If you are planning on your child attending UPK in one of our community-based organizations, you need to complete the WCSD registration forms and for the private UPK school. If you have any questions, please contact our registrar, Mrs. Sanchez, at the district office.

Documents required to apply for a slot in our UPK program include:

  • child’s birth certificate;
  • immunization records;
  • physical examination record;
  • proof of guardianship (custodial papers or affidavits if applicable); parent/guardian identification (New York State-issued driver’s license/photo identification);
  • Individual Education Plan, if appropriate (special education);
  • completed pre-registration packet;
  • proof of Washingtonville Central School District residency (such as lease, utility bill, pay stub, photo identification, etc.).

All applicants will automatically be registered for the UPK lottery. A virtual lottery will take place on Monday, June 6, 2022, for the 130 slots. If there are more than 130 applications for UPK, the remaining names will be put on a wait list. If a family needs to rescind their application, we will utilize the waitlist to fill the available spot.

We look forward to welcoming preschoolers into the Universal Pre-Kindergarten program in September.
