WCSD hosts third annual Wellness Expo

To commemorate Mental Health Awareness Month, the Washingtonville Central School District hosted its third annual Wellness Expo on Tuesday evening. Families and community members gathered to share resources and learn different coping strategies.

The event featured a variety of activities to educate participants about the importance of taking care of their mental health including mindful coloring and guided stretching. These activities, and many others, were put together by various clubs within the district. Some of these organizations included Wizards Against Cancer and Morgan’s Message.

Several organizations within the community also participated in the event, such as the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council, Well Rooted Massage Therapy, Sunstone Sanctuary and Orange County 4-H.

“What I like about this event is that there is something available for everybody,” said Erin Milteer, a social worker at Round Hill. “There's lots of arts and crafts, but if you're not an arts and crafts person, there’s exercises, a massage or healthy snacks.”

Prioritizing mental health is crucial for one’s overall well-being. A healthy mind fosters positive behavior, allowing one to make smart choices and navigate challenges with resilience and optimism.
