WHS boys soccer, girls tennis, boys X-C teams moving on to postseason

Washingtonville High School sports teams will be well-represented so far this fall postseason as the boys soccer team, girls tennis team and boys cross country team will be competing beyond the regular season.

Boys soccer - Division Champions
With a 5-1 division record and an 11-3-1 overall record the boys soccer team won the division championship and are the No. 2 seed for the playoffs.
Congratulations to three of our players who were named Varsity 845 players of the week – David Rodriguez, Matthew Stack and EJ Lazo.

The team is hosting the semi-final game of the Section IX tournament at 2 p.m. Monday, October 24th.

Girls Tennis - Division Champions and Headed to States
Junior Ella Dueck and eighth grader Ally Davis paired up for the postseason to play doubles. With no prior doubles experience, the duo finished third in both counties and sections. Their top 3 finish qualified them for Girls Tennis State Championships on Thursday, October 27, through Saturday, October 29 tournament in Schenectady!

Ella returns to states for the second year in a row, and this time with a different doubles partner. No Washingtonville girl has been to states multiple times with different partners. Ally heads to states for the first time. She is the third Washingtonville middle school student to make it to states, joining Jalynn Balleste and Faith Broderick.

Boys Cross Country - Division Champions
With an undefeated 7-0 record, the boys cross country team was named division champions and will be competing at Bear Mountain today, October 21, for the OCIAA championships and then again on Nov. 2 for the Section IX championships. Jason Ariano has been a top athlete all season.
