Important update on fall athletics

Important update on fall athletics

The Washingtonville Central School District will begin a phased series of enhancements to the high school's football field and track this fall, with completion scheduled for summer 2026. The project will feature the installation of a new multipurpose field with artificial turf, an expanded eight-lane track, and a new press box. Additional improvements, including lighting and fencing, will also be made. These upgrades are designed to provide a better athletic experience for our students and the entire school community for many years to come.

What this means for fall sports

The modified, junior varsity and varsity football teams will continue to practice at home, but beginning October 15, games will shift to away sites while construction is under way. Families can still look forward to three varsity home games this season, including Homecoming on Friday, October 3, at Washingtonville High School, when we’ll celebrate under the Friday night lights and honor our seniors.

Cross country practices may be slightly rerouted to avoid construction areas. Similar to weather-related adjustments, these changes will allow practices to continue as scheduled. Like football, cross country will not host home meets after October 15. No additional fall sports teams will be affected.

We appreciate your support as we make these exciting upgrades that will benefit future generations of Wizards.
