Elementary students learn fire safety during Fire Prevention Week

Students across Washingtonville's elementary schools are learning important fire safety lessons in recognition of Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 4-10.

This year's theme, “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower,” focuses on safely charging everyday devices like phones, tablets and laptops.

Throughout the week, Round Hill Elementary School students have been reviewing a new safety tip each morning, including using approved chargers, avoiding charging devices on soft surfaces and recognizing signs of overheating.

On Wednesday, students also received a visit from local firefighters who helped reinforce the importance of fire prevention. Pictured are Round Hill's first and second graders during the visit -- see photos here!

A special thank you to our local fire departments for taking the time to visit our schools and share these important safety lessons with students!
