WCSD Capital Improvement Projects: Major milestones reached and future upgrades underway!

The Washingtonville Central School District (WCSD) continues to make significant progress across its comprehensive Capital Improvement Projects, designed to enhance learning environments and facilities district-wide. The latest updates, as of April 30, 2026, show several phases complete and exciting new construction expected across WCSD schools in the coming year.

Projects Complete and Nearing Closeout

Several essential upgrades are finalized, marking successful completion points in the district’s plan:

Little Britain Elementary School Roof: Phase 1A of the 2024 Capital Project, which covered the roof replacement at Little Britain Elementary School, is fully complete, including SED approval, bidding, construction, and closeout.

Taft Elementary Doors & Ramps: The Doors & Ramp Project at Taft Elementary School, which involved replacing exterior doors and installing new ramps and sidewalks, is complete. Closeout is anticipated by June 2026.

Near-Term Completions (Mid-2026)

Key infrastructure updates are expected to wrap up soon, providing immediate benefits to students and staff:

High School/Middle School PA Systems: Construction for Phase 1 of the Public Address and Clock/Speaker upgrades in the High School and Middle School is anticipated for completion by June 2026.

Athletic Fields: Construction on the Lower Athletic Field at the High School (part of Phase 1B) is anticipated for completion by June 2026.

Major Upgrades Scheduled for Fall 2026

The Fall of 2026 is slated for significant activity across multiple WCSD campuses, with several project elements anticipated for completion:

Athletic Facilities: Phase 1B will see anticipated completion of upgrades to the Upper Athletic Fields and the Elevators by Fall 2026.

District-Wide Improvements (Phase 2): Construction for HVAC upgrades, kitchen equipment, and playgrounds at Washingtonville Middle School, Washingtonville High School, Little Britain Elementary School, Round Hill Elementary School, and Taft Elementary School is anticipated for completion by Fall 2026. New doors are anticipated for completion by Winter 2026.

Elementary School PA Systems: Phase 2 of the Public Address and Clock/Speaker upgrades in Elementary Schools is anticipated for completion by Fall 2026.

Looking Ahead to 2027

Preparations are underway for large-scale projects extending into 2027:

Pool Renovation Project: Bidding for the Washingtonville High School Pool Renovation Project is anticipated for October 2026, with construction scheduled from March 2027 to August 2027.

Phase 3 Major Renovations: Major renovations and infrastructure replacements at the High School and Middle School are scheduled for construction in Summer 2027, with anticipated completion by Spring 2028. The closeout for the entire Phase 3 project is anticipated by Spring 2028.

High School/Middle School Site Improvements (Phase 3): Site improvements and are anticipated for completion by Spring 2028.

Facilities Maintenance and Improvements

Summer 2025

1. Epoxy finish over old tile walls-HS.
2. Gym painting-HS.
3. Stage floor replacement- MS.
4. UPK Playground-LB.
5. Upper exterior walls painted-HS.
6. 10 classroom floor replacement-HS.
7. Painting Cafeteria windows-LB
8. Flooring replacement at areas- CA-LB-HS
9. General sprucing up/painting of areas- Doors, hallways, etc.- All buildings.
10. Expanded safety systems: nearly 70 new security cameras installed

Winter 2025-2026

1. Bleachers completed at MS.
2. Continued painting of upper walls at HS and offices at RH.
3. Bus Garage bathrooms renovated.
4. Completion of the Energy Performance Contract

Summer 2026 – Planning for summer facilities and safety/security projects is ongoing
