Washingtonville High School named NYSPHSAA School of Excellence

Washingtonville High School has been recognized as a New York State Public High School Athletic Association School of Excellence for the 2025–2026 school year, an honor recognizing strong academic achievement among its varsity student-athletes.

To earn the designation, at least 75% of a school’s varsity teams must qualify for NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Team recognition based on the academic performance of their student-athletes.

“This recognition reflects what we want for our student-athletes at Washingtonville,” Superintendent Dr. Larry Washington said. “Athletics are an important part of the student experience, but academics remain at the center of what we do. Our students continue to show that they can commit themselves to their teams while maintaining that same level of commitment in the classroom, and we are very proud of what they have accomplished.”
