Voters approve 2026-27 Washingtonville Central School District budget

Washingtonville Central School District's 2026-2027 budget of $140,283,484 has been approved by district voters. The measure passed on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, by an unofficial vote of 1183 to 566, pending official certification.

“The Washingtonville Central School District is deeply grateful for the continued support of our community,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Larry Washington. “This budget reflects our ongoing commitment to academic excellence, student experience and community connection while continuing to provide meaningful opportunities for every student. We appreciate our residents for investing in the future of Washingtonville schools.”

Voters also approved the district’s bus and vehicle proposition, by an unofficial vote of 1172 to 573. The proposition includes the purchase of eight 71-passenger buses, three 30-passenger buses and two Suburban vehicles for a total cost of $1,972,000. The district expects approximately 72% of the cost to be reimbursed through state aid, allowing Washingtonville to continue maintaining and modernizing its transportation fleet.

In addition, voters approved the Capital Reserve Fund Amendment Proposition, by an unofficial vote of 1155 to 592, which increases the reserve fund limit to $20 million. The amendment will allow the district to strategically transfer unassigned funds to support future renovations, infrastructure improvements and long-term facility needs while helping minimize the tax impact on residents.

Two open seats on the Board of Education were filled following Tuesday’s vote, with Robin White and Stephen Frey elected to serve on the Board. Robin White received 978 votes, Stephen Frey received 849 votes, Amelia Breitmaier received 687 votes and Elias Rosado-Cunningham received 655 votes.
