October 2025 Making a Difference Award recipients honored

The Making a Difference Award recognizes the many examples of individual teachers, aides, drivers, safety, and other District staff who are making a difference in the lives of our children throughout our buildings. Last week, Board of Education President Sharon Williams and Vice President Robin White delivered the Making a Difference Award to each October recipient.

Vanessa Mansharamani, Little Britain Elementary School

Vanessa has helped many families feel welcome and special at Little Britain. She cares deeply for our families and students and brings this perspective to all she works on in our PTO. She has built community at Little Britain by highlighting and honoring the special legacies of our students. She has also created a new event that brings all three elementary schools together (which is not an easy feat!)

Colleen Davy, Taft Elementary School

Mrs. Davy is a kind, caring and dedicated school nurse who takes the time to get to know the children of Taft and their diverse needs. She takes care of every injury, from scrapes to breaks! Mrs. Davy's care for the students of Taft goes above and beyond her call of duty as the school nurse and we are so grateful to have her as part of our school community.

Maryke Troast, Washingtonville Middle School

Maryke has created a system to review, evaluate and approve each individual student registration form for each and every athletic season. Many times, the review process includes communication with the parent/guardian, coach, athletic office and local medical services. Maryke has successfully reviewed all student athlete registration forms each season. The average is over 600 athletes per season.

Daniela Brickhouse, Washingtonville High School

Daniela has consistently demonstrated her ability to go above and beyond to review a student file for Athletic participation in a moment's notice. Regardless of day, time, after hours, before hours Daniela has made overseeing student athletic registration a super priority. She goes above and beyond to deliver personalized, individual customer service to the Wizard athletes, families and community.
