ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
If you believe your bank or mortgage company escrows for your taxes (your monthly mortgage amount includes a tax escrow payment) and you receive a tax bill, please forward your bill to the bank or company holding your mortgage.
Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve you of your responsibility for payment. It also will not constitute cause for cancellation of any penalty if the bill becomes delinquent. (New York State Real Property Tax Law 922) If you do not receive a tax bill, please contact the tax collector at the number above to obtain a copy of your tax bill.
Taxes paid September 1st – September 30th are not subject to a penalty
Taxes paid October 1st – October 31st are subject to a 2% penalty
Taxes paid November 1st – November 4th are subject to a 3% penalty
Note: After last collection date, taxes will no longer be accepted by the school district. Payments will be accepted by the commissioner of finance in Goshen from November 5th through November 17th, 2025. After this date, unpaid taxes will be re-levied on January 2026 tax bill. No personal checks are accepted.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT 2026 USPS POSTMARKS
The United States Postal Service (USPS) has updated how mail is processed and postmarked. Due to consolidation of sorting facilities, mail is now postmarked when it is processed, not when it is dropped off. This means there may be a delay between when you mail your payment and when it receives an official USPS postmark. For example, a payment dropped off on September 30 but processed on October 5 will receive an October 5 postmark.
If school tax payment received in an envelope with a USPS postmark after the due date will be considered late and subject to penalties.
Please note that a postage meter postmark is NOT a postmark made by the United States Post Office and can NOT be deemed a timely payment if received after the due date.
HOW TO ENSURE A TIMELY SCHOOL TAX PAYMENT
- Request a hand-stamped postmark at the Post Office counter
- Mail your payment well in advance of the due date
- Click here to pay online with e-check
If you use your bank’s mobile or online bill pay, the bank typically mails a paper check without a USPS postmark. Payments received after the due date in envelopes without a postmark will be considered late and subject to penalties.
