Washingtonville Middle School celebrates National Junior Honor Society Induction

Washingtonville Middle School celebrates National Junior Honor Society Induction

Washingtonville Middle School recently welcomed a new group of students into its National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) chapter, recognizing their achievements in scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship. The induction ceremony marked an important milestone in the students' academic journeys and celebrated their commitment to excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

Membership in the NJHS is one of the highest honors available to middle school students. They are selected through a faculty review process that considers not only academic achievement, but also leadership, service, character and citizenship.

The ceremony was led by current chapter members, who helped welcome guests and share the meaning behind the organization's five pillars. Eighth-grade NJHS President Simone Martin opened the evening, while Scholarship Chair Lea DiGiovanni, Service Chair Cameron Sansone, Leadership Chair Bridgette Dacunto, Character Chair Katherine Kysylytsya and Citizenship Chair Amelia Bates each addressed the audience and reflected on the values that define the organization.

Looking out at the students gathered for induction, Principal Teresa Thompson reflected on the impact they have already had on the Washingtonville Middle School community.

“You have already made our school community a better place, and your families have every reason to be proud,” Ms. Thompson said.

For the newly inducted members, the evening served as both a celebration of their accomplishments and a reminder that excellence is measured not only by grades, but also by the way they lead, serve and contribute to the world around them.

Following the Induction, current members were also recognized and presented with commemorative pins honoring their continued membership in the organization.
