WHS aspire students visit Little Britain to learn about life cycles

Washingtonville High School's Aspire class had the wonderful opportunity to visit Mrs. Zupko’s second grade classroom to meet their newly hatched chicks. This experience was a powerful, hands-on learning moment!

Second graders have been diligently incubating and caring for the chicks as part of their life cycles unit. They proudly shared a slideshow with high school students, practicing their public speaking skills and explaining the chick-hatching process. Aspire students were able to observe the results of the project up close, deepening their understanding of life cycles in a memorable way.

As part of our science curriculum, students have been studying life cycles, and seeing the chicks firsthand truly brought that learning to life. The experience also aligned with students' interests, as many Aspire students expressed interest in caring professions.

Throughout the visit, students practiced leadership, patience and empathy as they interacted thoughtfully with both the chicks and the younger students. Experiences like this bridge classroom learning with real-world skills, making education both meaningful and memorable!
