Washingtonville Central School District welcomed over 30 new staff members on Monday, August 28, 2023. This two-day orientation started with breakfast and introductions and was followed by small workshops and trainings.
“You landed in a good spot,” said Dr. Larry Washington, superintendent of schools. “The district is going to be a better place with you all here.”
Staff learned about the district’s various software and technology platforms like Wizard Launch and Google Classroom, met the District Social Worker, Marcela Maldonado, to learn the importance of taking care of themselves, and discussed the curriculum.
Each new teacher will also get paired with a mentor for the year.
“There is such a sense of community here,” said Victoria Bruschi, new first-grade special education teacher at Round Hill. Ms. Bruschi was a leave replacement last year and will be joining the WCSD full-time. “The teachers are so close. I am so happy that I am able to stay.”
“The most important thing we can do for our students is put the right people in front of them and we feel very confident that you are the right people,” said Lynn Imperato, director of personnel and staff development.
