Sharon Williams honored with NYSSBA Board Lifetime Achievement Award

Washingtonville Board of Education President Sharon Williams was recognized at the Board of Education meeting on June 11, receiving the Board Lifetime Achievement Award through the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) Board of Excellence Recognition Program. The award honors board members for their commitment to professional development, service and leadership in public education.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Larry Washington presented the award, describing it as a reflection of Ms. Williams' years of dedicated service, leadership and vision on behalf of the Washingtonville school community.

"As board president, your leadership has been a cornerstone of our success," Dr. Washington said. "You have navigated complex challenges with poise and consistently championed policies that prioritize our students and staff. Your ability to foster collaborative dialogue and build consensus has strengthened our governance and unified our community."

Dr. Washington also thanked Ms. Williams for her commitment to public education and for setting a high standard of leadership for the district.

"We are truly fortunate to have you," he said. "This honor is well deserved."
