WHS musicians celebrated during annual Spring Band Concert

The Washingtonville High School music department welcomed families, friends and community members to the high school auditorium on Tuesday evening for its annual Spring Band Concert, featuring performances by the Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Concert Band, Select Ensemble and Wind Ensemble.

The evening also included awards recognizing most improved and outstanding musicians, along with a special composition award honoring students beginning to explore the world of music composition. Members of the Class of 2026 were also recognized for the lasting impact they have made on the program throughout their years at Washingtonville.

The concert concluded with student composer Owen Leonard conducting the Wind Ensemble in his own arrangement of music from the Broadway musical Wicked, featuring parts carefully written for more than 30 different instruments.
