WHS senior Cameron Snyder inducted into Wall of Champions

Washingtonville High School senior Cameron Snyder was officially inducted into the Wall of Champions on Wednesday, recognizing a historic winter track season that included a New York State title in the 300m dash. Family, friends, coaches and teachers gathered outside the WHS auditorium to celebrate the milestone and honor Cameron’s accomplishments.

The ceremony began with remarks from Athletic Director Suzanne Lendzian and Track and Field Coach Michael White Sr., who praised Cameron’s dedication, consistency and growth throughout his four years in the program before he unveiled his plaque on the wall.

“This feels kind of surreal,” Cameron said. “I didn’t expect any of this, but I’m grateful for it all.”

Cameron’s winter track season was one for the record books. In addition to winning a state championship, he established himself as one of the fastest sprinters in New York and became one of the most accomplished sprinters in Washingtonville history. He currently holds five school records.

During the winter season, Cameron also posted the fastest 400m time in New York at 48.05 during the New Balance Nationals, where he finished 10th overall. He was also part of a historic 4x200m relay team that became the first in school history to break 1:30, alongside teammates Isaiah Cameron, John Kosowicz and Ethan Gonzalez. Cameron’s family was also there to celebrate the moment.

“We're very proud of Cameron for all his hard work and effort,” Carole Snyder said. “It’s been really amazing to see his growth since freshman year when he was just starting out. Getting to this moment after four years, we’re just blown away by his achievements.”

Next year, Cameron will attend Binghamton University, where he plans to continue running. Before then, however, he still has one more goal to accomplish: breaking Malachi Taylor’s 400m school record at States in a few weeks.

Congratulations, and best of luck Cameron!
