Fourth- and fifth-graders celebrate with Pumpkin Runs

Fourth- and fifth-grade students - some in costume and some not - ran as their fellow students and students from other grades cheered them on during the annual Halloween Pumpkin Run races on October 31, 2023.

Each of the elementary schools in the Washingtonville Central School District hosted the annual Halloween run, which is open to fourth- and fifth-grade students who want to participate. Physical education teachers in each of the schools are teaching cross-country running in the their classes during this time of year.

Students with the top three times - the first, second and third place finishers - for both the boys and the girls won a small pumpkin. 

The fastest 20 girls and the fastest 20 boys from each school are invited to run the cross country trail at Washingtonville High School on Thursday, November 2, after school. A boys' race and a girls' race will determine the top runners from all 3 elementary schools.
